Dr. Harris McIlwain graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia and is board certified in Internal Medicine, Rheumatology, and Geriatric Medicine. He has authored 26 books for patients on health, including topics as arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain, and fibromyalgia. His books include Diet for a Pain-Free Life, The Pain-Free Back, Reversing Osteopenia, Pain-Free Arthritis, and The Fibromyalgia Handbook. He has also published e-Books, Unleashing the Mystery of Fibromyalgia, Bone Boosters, and Diet for a Pain-Free Life. E-Books, The Osteoporosis Cure and The Pain-Free Back, are in process, expected to be available this summer. Dr. McIlwain has been spotlighted as one of the “Best Doctors” in America and in the Tampa Bay area seven times as well as being honored as one of the Top 100 Physicians in the United States. Recently, he received the Patients Choice Award. He consults with Best Doctors of America on international cases on fibromyalgia and other areas of arthritis and related diseases. Dr. McIlwain is also the Pain Expert for Dr. Oz's Sharecare.com website, providing answers to questions from patients in pain. He has been the Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, lupus, gout and more. Dr. Joel Silverfield is a graduate of Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia. After completing an internship and residency at Emory, he continued his education with a Rheumatology fellowship at the Mayo Clinic. in Rochester, Minnesota. Dr. Silverfield is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He has authored over twenty publications, including articles in The Journal of Rheumatology and The American Journal and has been rated on multiple occasions as one of the “Best Doctors in America." Recently, US News and World Report recognized Dr. Silverfield as "Top Doctor," an honor presented to the top 10% physicians in the country. He was also voted by the readers of the Tampa Tribune in 2010 as the "Best Doctor is South Tampa" and has received the “Leader of the Year” Award by the Arthritis Foundation. He is an experienced Expert Witness in the fields of Rheumatology and Internal Medicine. Dr. Silverfield is a frequent lecturer in the field of Rheumatology and has been a featured speaker most recently at the Focus on the Females Forum and St. Joseph's Hospital Women's Grand Rounds. He has served as a company doctor for TECO Electric, USAA Insurance, and the Barnum and Bailey Circus. He currently sees visiting performers for the Performing Arts Center who require care while in Tampa. He has served on the Board of Trustees at the Berkeley School, Health Care Magazine, The Hillsborough County Medical Association, Tampa Yacht Club, BayCare Malpractice Advisory Board, the Home Association, and the Arthritis Foundation. Dr. Michael Burnette is a Summa Cum Laude graduate who attended University of North Carolina Medical School, Chapel Hill. He completed his internship and residency training at the University of Kentucky Medical Center while later completing a Rheumatology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina. He is board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology and has authored many publications. Dr. Burnette has been recognized as one of the “Best Doctors in America" on mulitiple occasions and was recently recognized by US News and World Report as a "Top Doctor," an honor presented to the top 10% physicians in the country. He frequently gives presentations to other physicians about new drug information for use in the field of rheumatology and has served on the Medical Advisory Committee for the Lupus Foundation of Tampa since 1986. Dr. Burnette has been the Principal Investigator for multiple clinical trials for rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoarthritis, and gout as well as other rheumatological diseases. He has also been the Sub-Investigator for many other clinical trials in his specialty. He is married, has two children, and enjoys snow skiing.

Dr. Laura Cruse graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her medical studies and fellowship in Rheumatology at the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL. Active in her community, she has been a volunteer physician for the Migrant Clinic for the Catholic Charities and has previously been honored with the Humanism in Medicine Award. Dr. Cruse was a past Support and Education Group Leader for the Arthritis Foundation and has several publications to her credit, including co-authoring Reversing Osteopenia. Dr. Cruse has been the Sub-Investigator for multiple rheumatological clinical trials for osteoarthritis, obesity, low bone density, and rheumatoid arthritis. She is married, has three children, and enjoys photography and outdoor activities.

Dr. Kimberly Smith graduated from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. She also attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, Florida, and was accepted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She received her degree in Internal Medicine from USF, and completed her fellowship in Rheumatology at Emory University. Dr. Smith has volunteered extensively in her community, including leadership activities with an Alzheimer’s Unit in Tampa. She was the Principal Investigator in lupus clinical trials and the Sub-Investigator on multiple clinical trials in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine, including studies on rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, gout, and shingles. In 2011, Dr. Smith received the Compassionate Doctor Award based on reviews written by thousands of patients. While physicians generally receive positive feedback from their patients, only a select few receive praise about the compassion that accompanied their care. In fact, of the nation’s 720,000 active physicians, less than 3% were accorded this honor by their patients. In 2010, she was voted as one of America's "Most Compassionate Doctors" and in 2008, 2009, and 2010, she was presented with "Patient's Choice" Award. In addition, Dr. Smith has co-authored several books addressing osteopenia and arthritis, including Reversing Osteopenia. She is married, has three children, two dogs, enjoys long distance running, and has completed several half-marathons and full marathon events.
